The Art of Healing

Lepam Bandage (Lepa Bandhana) is a classical Ayurvedic external application therapy in which a freshly prepared medicated herbal paste is applied directly to the affected area and then bandaged to ensure retention, sustained absorption, and therapeutic contact with the target tissue. The paste is formulated specifically for the presenting condition — anti-inflammatory herbs for joint and skin conditions, wound-healing compounds for injuries, or analgesic preparations for acute pain.

Holistic outcomes that nurture both mind and body
The benefits of Abhyanga are not merely felt during the session — they accumulate. The oils continue working for up to 12 hours after treatment, the lymphatic system remains activated, and many guests report the deepest sleep of their recent lives in the nights that follow.

The sustained contact of anti-inflammatory herbal paste with inflamed tissue — joints, muscles, or skin — provides a continuous medicinal action over the retention period. This extended contact achieves a depth of anti-inflammatory effect that brief topical applications cannot replicate.

Specific Lepam formulations containing wound-healing herbs (Manjistha, Turmeric, Neem, Haridra) promote granulation tissue formation, reduce infection risk, and accelerate the healing of surgical wounds, burns, and chronic skin lesions.

Eczema, psoriasis, and dermatitis respond specifically to Lepam Bandage therapy — the precise herbal formulation targeting the specific dosha imbalance driving the skin condition, combined with the sustained retention provided by the bandage, creates a therapeutic environment for significant skin healing.

For acute sprains, strains, and the localised pain of arthritic flares, Lepam Bandage provides immediate analgesic and anti-inflammatory action. The bandage maintains the paste in direct contact with the affected joint or muscle throughout the retention period.
Agnikarma is recommended for chronic and localised conditions including osteoarthritis, cervical and lumbar spondylosis, sciatica, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, plantar fasciitis, and specific tendon and ligament conditions that have not fully responded to other therapies. It is always physician-assessed and prescribed, and is performed only on points where it is clinically appropriate. Not performed during pregnancy, active infection at the treatment site, in patients with very low pain tolerance or sensitive skin conditions, or for those with bleeding disorders or uncontrolled diabetes without physician clearance.
Disrupted sleep, racing thoughts at night, or an inability to reach deep rest — Abhyanga re-teaches the body its natural rhythm of rest through sustained parasympathetic activation.
The treatment grounds excess Vata energy — the dosha associated with the nervous system and mental chatter — restoring a felt sense of safety and settledness in the body.
Chronic exhaustion lives in the tissues, not just the mind. Abhyanga nourishes depleted ojas — the subtle essence of vitality — rebuilding energy reserves at their root.

Retention duration depends on the condition and the specific paste formulation — typically 2-4 hours for joint conditions and 4-8 hours or overnight for skin conditions. Your physician will prescribe the appropriate retention duration and provide instructions for home care between clinic visits.
