The Art of Healing

Tharpanam is the most potent Ayurvedic eye care therapy — medicated ghee is retained within a sealed dough ring constructed around the eyes, where it bathes the ocular surface in warm therapeutic medicine for a prescribed duration. The ghee penetrates through the conjunctival surface into the optic nerve and surrounding orbital tissue, nourishing the retina, strengthening the extraocular muscles, and reducing the inflammation and dryness that underlie most modern eye complaints.

Holistic outcomes that nurture both mind and body
The benefits of Abhyanga are not merely felt during the session — they accumulate. The oils continue working for up to 12 hours after treatment, the lymphatic system remains activated, and many guests report the deepest sleep of their recent lives in the nights that follow.

Tharpanam is one of the most effective treatments for chronic dry eye syndrome. The warm medicated ghee provides the lipid layer that stabilised tears require and stimulates the meibomian glands responsible for tear film production.

Regular Tharpanam is prescribed for early-stage visual deterioration, blurred vision from Pitta or Vata aggravation, and optic nerve nourishment. The classical prescription includes prevention of cataract formation through long-term regular treatment.

The nutritive fatty acid composition of medicated ghee, absorbed through the conjunctival surface, provides the lipid nourishment that photoreceptor cells require for their daily regeneration. This deep nourishment supports the long-term health of the retina in a manner that eye drops cannot replicate.
