The Art of Healing

Abhyangam is a traditional Ayurvedic full-body massage in which warm medicated oil is applied from the scalp to the soles of the feet. The oil is chosen according to your dosha, or individual constitution, and worked into the body using specific, rhythmic strokes.
The massage is followed by a herbal steam bath, which is traditionally used to help the oil penetrate more deeply. Abhyangam forms part of Dinacharya, the Ayurvedic daily routine for maintaining health, and is valued for its calming, nourishing effect on body and mind.

Holistic outcomes that nurture both mind and body
Abhyangam has long been valued in Ayurveda as a nourishing daily practice. Regular sessions are traditionally used to support circulation, ease stress and keep the skin supple, although effects vary from person to person and depend on individual constitution and health.

Warm oil and rhythmic strokes may help relax tight muscles, and the massage is traditionally used to support flexibility and ease of movement in the muscles and joints.

The steady, flowing strokes are traditionally used to encourage healthy blood circulation throughout the body, leaving many people feeling lighter, warmer and refreshed afterwards.

The warmth of the oil and the unhurried pace of the massage may help calm the nervous system, ease everyday stress and encourage a settled, peaceful state of mind.

Medicated oils nourish and moisturise the skin, helping it feel smoother and softer. Regular Abhyangam is traditionally valued for supporting a healthy, youthful-looking complexion.
Careers that demand constant output, mental presence, and emotional regulation leave the nervous system in a state of chronic activation. Abhyanga offers a biological counterweight.
Disrupted sleep, racing thoughts at night, or an inability to reach deep rest — Abhyanga re-teaches the body its natural rhythm of rest through sustained parasympathetic activation.
The treatment grounds excess Vata energy — the dosha associated with the nervous system and mental chatter — restoring a felt sense of safety and settledness in the body.
Chronic exhaustion lives in the tissues, not just the mind. Abhyanga nourishes depleted ojas — the subtle essence of vitality — rebuilding energy reserves at their root.
